Winter Range

 

Qualification has been redone. The stages are new and for the better. Gunfights and shoot-outs are all at close quarters. The  course reflects the stats  Scoring is pass or fail. Passing is five point higher than before. I shot tonight and passed.  

 

 

Off Hand

 

Off-hand shooting, singled armed, on a time course, is not easy. Rolling the shoulder, to lock in a steady shooting platform, tends to cant the wrist to a 45 degree angle. To keep from my tendency to put a round over the target's shoulder, I turn the wrist back and elevate the thumb. If I rush a shot, I hit the the four zone. It is not optimal, but it better than missing the target altogether.

I qualed with a 94.8.

Not bad for an old man......

 

 

On the Nature of Tasers

 

Per the department's stats....

 

The probes move under 200 feet per second and are not very accurate.

Tasers are more effective to a person’s back instead of front.

In general, they are only 50 percent effective.

 

 

One In the Four

 

 

At Winter Qual, I put one round at the 25 yard mark a half into the 4 zone, or I would have shoot a possible. Still, a 99.6 isn't bad at all.

I qualified with a 94.4. We are still using the old scoring system.

Qual, so not a bad round.

 

 

For Winter Qual, I shot a 96.8. I threw two 3's and two 4's with my left hand, so not a bad round. It's the last qual of it's kind. The department is going to a pass fail mode with more emphasis with shorter range shots.
