Camps: Return to Action

 

The brass has been given officer the green light to resume camp enforcement.

Since the city allows camping, but not structures we are within the law. 

 

 

Camps

 

Due to the Supreme Court affirming the 9th Circuit's Court's ruling on homeless camps involving the City of Boise, the brass has issued an order to no longer enforce any public campings ordinances until the City's Attorney Office can study the matter. 

The city I work in had banned public structures like tents and pallet and tarp reefs, but allowed sleeping in sleeping bags on the sidewalk.

 

Decline

 

 

Mary's a problem.

When asked to leave the lobby

of the big bank tower, she punched

the security guard  twice.

 

I picked her up and took her jail.

The next morning, the DA's Offic

e decline the case. Mary was unable

to "aid and assisit" on the charges

she was held for last week.

They assume nothing has changed.

 

 

 

 

Pinch and Decline

 

This morning, the DA's Office sent me an e-mail stating they were declining my graffiti case since the subject has mental health issues, it was his first offense, and I could not objectively prove that writing with Sharpie on the street sign "inconvenienced" the city. 

 

 

Long Days

 

 

No court today, but I had a trial

on Monday and Tuesday

and grand jury on Thursday.

 

 

The Choice

 

Last Night, at a quarter to Five, the DA for today’s DA assault trial called me. Her office misplaced the video evidence. There are discovery issues, so the case was likely to be set over.

She offered me a choice. Come in on four hours of sleep and wait a couple hours or stay home and sleep. She’d text me if she needed me.

It’s a no brainer. I’ll lose out on four hours of OT, but I’d be able to sleep and have my regular gym day.

 

 

 

 

Justice

 

Wednesday's court was a last minute plea.

The suspect had over a 1000

violations pending against him.

Plus another three hundred calls

he had made at jail to the victim.

 

He plead to 10 and received

a sentence of 75 days in jail.

 

I am told this is a good result. 

 

 

Court

 

Per the Court Coordinator, I have told to Disregard all five of my cases scheduled for Monday. 

 

 

The 30th in Three Notes

Per the Judge at Traffic Court, traffic cites can no longer be dismissed with the completion of a traffic course. The minimum standard is a statement of discharge. The conviction is on the record, but there is no fine.

Per the Day Shift Lieutenant at Roll Call, due to Morning Shift staffing shortages, Afternoons can regularly expect calls holding for 3-4 hours when the we log on.

Banyard left West Precinct for East. He was tired on dealing with the transients downtown.
