Not a story but,
I remember when I first met RD. I was fresh off probation and he was what I assumed was a salty old cop ready to retire. After establishing myself as a district officer who bordered RD I got to know him better.
I was able to prove myself after covering him on calls and built a friendship. He was somebody I could count on when shit hit the fan and I’d like to think I was the same for him.
We worked together for several years during my time at the precinct. When 2020 hit us we were almost always on MFF together and quite literally went to battle together. We made it out the other side and myself and my partner decided it was time to leave the precinct as the job just wasn’t fun anymore.
There are only a handful of people I miss working around down there and RD is at the top of the list.
RD, as you move on from this career and become a member of the check of the month club, know you will be missed. The boots you’re taking off for the last time are going to be hard to fill. Park the Crown Vic for the last time and know you’ve fulfilled your duty to this city.
It’s been a pleasure to know and work along side you.
