Your time is there for you to use. Don't think anyone else would be as thoughtful as you.
Everyone else would just take the time off and not think twice about it; if nothing else, just for their own well being.

You've earned it and only get a fraction of it when you retire.
If you feel the need, please do it.

Use that time. You are not responsible for the City’s bad staffing choices and you cannot plug all of the holes.
Days off are part of your pay - you earned them.
