Fire Calls

 

Per the Fire Department, in 2022 there were 1959 “homeless-related fires.”

That number is 41 percent of city’s fires. 

Mac

 

Mac's on the ground, three doses of Narcan and chest compressions, have brought him to edge of breathing.

As his lips turn blue, I insert another spray up his nose. His breathing grow and becomes regular. The size of his pupils increase.

When medics arrive, he able to stir and stand.

He tells them he had stopped using for 18 days. He used his regular dose. His tolerance atrophied and it almost killed him.

In the Pond, for 2022, there were 63 Traffic Fatalities matching the record high from the year before.

At last night's car jacking and shooting, I used the new tactical door stop and saved offices from relying on a broken stick the sergeant found.

 

 

Color

 

Back in the 1980', 1990's and mid-2000's the city had white prowlers. Then, the paint scheme went to blue with white wrapped door. The wraps did not weather well. They stain and are easily dinged. The department just bought 66 Ford FIUs for the pond. The purchase has been years in the making. We haven't bought a car in three years. Due to wrecks, rammings, and wear, somedays there aren't enough cars for the current shift and the relieving one. The new rigs are black. Why? Ford only makes offered them in that color. The department soundly skipped the wraps. We'll see if the transmissions last longer than the 2000 hybrids.
