Transitioning Roles

 

Today, was Potter’s last day on the shift. He’s earned an investigation position in the department.

Ruminating on the job, he said, “It’s been a huge career goal of mine. I’m nervous, but I’ve worked hard to be prepared. I’ve done countless hours of training and reading on my own time in addition to what I’ve done when I was up there.

I’ve got to say it was sad today. I can’t really say I’m a “cop” anymore… yes I’m a police officer but a “cop” is a much more noble and badass title. My hat is off to you guys who do an entire career of being a “cop”, it’s the hardest and least respected job not only in our agency but in the country, if not world. You guys are badass.

That’s what I wanted to say in roll call, but there were only a few of you guys in there who would get it. I already told Hands and I don’t think Midnight Man cares lol…"

Last night, I responded to four Fentanyl ODs. I used three 4 MLs of Narcan on the second. Fire refused to respond to number four. Due to Narcan issued on the street, no one died. 

 

 

Service Pins

 

The Department has announced it will renew years of service pins. I think I that last one I received was a five year pin. The department stopped issuing them due to cost cutting measures. I should be receiving one for 25 years.
