Three Teams

 

This week, the department reshuffled our resources. There are nine new homicides detectives, making three teams instead of two, to help with the unprecedented level of murder in the city.

In the end, we were -5 with two on OT.  Over time is harder and harder to come buy. All shifts and precincts are asking. After two years, few officers are offering up more than one or two shifts a week.

I am setting my retirement date for December 2023. It's my hard out. I could go at anytime. As Straight Pipe has said, I am playing extra innings. If I have have three bad days in a row, I could go earlier. Nothing is as bad a 2020 and the first half of 2021, but the department is barely functioning. The brass are good people, but they cannot admit the problems, so nothing is being fixed. I don't have the energy. I don't have the patience. It is time to land. Be a human full time. Be a better husband. Be a better father. Be able to sleep.

Roll Call Reality

 

At roll call, we had two support staff, the LT, two sergeant, and five officers. Our minimums are 17. We're at -3 with three on OT. One officer was helping out at training. One was at meeting. Another was called out early.  Two had court. One officer didn't come in until 2200 hours for a 1600 shift.
