I've told my crews that one of the most dangerous jobs we have to do is working accident scenes on the stretch of highway in our district. We can wear reflective vests over our bunker gear, put out cone lines and big SLOW DOWN ACCIDENT SCENE signs, and park the fire engine to protect the working zone, but the fact remains - some folks still drive by at 60 mph while we work feet away from them pulling people from wrecked vehicles. Stay Alert, Stay Alive!
