out of curiosity, what do you see as the correlation? Longer response times in event of emergency? Drivers speeding or taking other risks where traffic enforcement is lax?

As a driver, I drive the same way whether I know an officer is there or not... Lack of police would not change the way I drive my car so I just wonder if that makes me unusual or if there is something else leading to the increase in fatalities.

The department used to have a dedicated traffic unit. Due to budget cuts, that unit no longer exists. There are so few officers, there is no time for traffic stops. During Covid, people seem to have lost the ability to drive defensively and think of others. People step into the street without looking. Stop signs seem optional. Left turns from the right lane are common. Dozens of cars drive without headlights at night.....
