Per the department's stats....
The probes move under 200 feet per second and are not very accurate.
Tasers are more effective to a person’s back instead of front.
In general, they are only 50 percent effective.

A few years before I started we had a very prominent taser death that was national news for quite a while. The training was seriously overhauled. The unexpected outcome is that some people here will immediately stop resisting if they even see a taser. I haven't worked with anyone who's deployed it more than once.

There are so many variables that hurt the tool's performance from clothing to a struggling target. The wires are so easily pulled out and the electric connection is broken.

I have not applied it in a year, but I have removed it from its holder and the suspect decided to back down.
I had 3-4 successful deployments the year before.
The department is now taking about making having one options, or allowing the officers to stow it in the car to use it in very specific cases.
