Yesterday, when the body snatchers came to collect the corpse, I asked,

 

How liquid is he?

 

The ME replied, “He should be fine. He’s only been down two or three days. “

 

The crew started stripping the body and stopped.

 

“He has blisters. “

 

They ceased undressing the man, put him into the bag, and rolled him away.

 

 

Death

 

When I retire, one of things I won't miss about work is the smell of decaying bodies.

I went to South Prec to gas up the car and saw this Thank You heart taped next to the overhead door.

 

In this line of work, you have to appreciate the niceties whenever they show up...

 

 

 

Cheer

 

Yes, people have been calling dispatch to complain about the 1900 hour cheer for First Responders. They want officers to make the noise-makers stop.

 

 

Bull

 

In the river, under Bedlam Bridge, I saw a bull sea lion swim and show off for the handful of spectators present. 

 

 

Grateful

 

I am grateful for two days of non-rain, so I can hack through the brambles, canes, and limbs of an over-grown yard. It is a work out, productive, and I am out of the house with my hands in the dirt. 

 

 

OT

 

Tonight, I worked my first voluntary OT shift in years. For straight backfill patrol, it might be my first time since I left South Precinct in 2009.

 

 

Lily

 

It was Lily's birthday today. I brought her a piece of chocolate cake from home.
