2019 Officer Deaths

 

 

In 2019, ninety officers were killed in the line of duty. 48 were murdered. 42 were killed in accidents.

 

As a reference number, 106 officers were killed in 2018. Fifty six were murdered.

 

The South led the US in officer deaths with 27 murdered and 23 killed in accidents.

 

The Northeast had the least with one officer murdered and three killed in accidents.

 

Of the officers killed by accident in 2019, 16 were struck and killed by vehicles as pedestrians. 21 died in vehicle crashes.

 

 

 

 

 

A Pinch in the Park

 

 

A transient’s made her squat in a park bathroom and won’t leave for the cleaning crew.

 

Dispatch sent Cid and I to shoo her away.

 

Officer RD with the police. The cleaning crew needs you to leave, so they can clean the bathroom.

 

At the door, she replied , “You’re gonna haf take me to jail!” the transient declared.

 

You don’t want to go to jail. Pack up your things and leave.

 

She shouted, “You’re gonna haf take me to jail! I’m not leaving! I not done using the bathroom! He didn’t give me any warning!

 

It took us ten minutes to get here. You have had plenty of time. Please pack up your things or we will have to arrest you.

 

She looked at us and said, “Then, do it!”

We hooked her without delay.
