It’s midnight. It’s 38 and the gusts are cutting.
Lily walks up to my prowler.
“Hey -D, whatcha doin?”
Tryin’ to stay out of the cold.
She says, “Can we do that thing again .... where you give me a ride?”
Where to?
“Under the Serenity Bridge. I haff ta go git my sleepin’ bag. “
Sure.
“But hook around the corner, so no one see me. “
I roll a block over.
She sees me and yells at my Crown Vic as a car drives by.
When it’s gone, I open up the cage. She jumps on, lays down, and asks, “Can you drop me off at the transit garage?”
Sure.
As I drive her over, Lily says, “I love doing this.”
When I let her out, I assure her the street is empty.
Shhh! People might think you are a nice man. We can't have that!
(slips you a cookie on the sly)

Nope. Once the cookie has been given it is given. No 'Do Over's' allowed. Now eat the damn cookie and get back to work.
It's full of sugar and has Liberal's tears as a key ingredient.
