When Afternoons logged on, we had 31 calls holding. Some were holding from before noon. This is the new norm. There is no crime prevention. There is no patrol. We handle priority calls and when time allows, cold calls. By the time we take the cold ones, the victim, the suspect, and the problem have often gone away.
Gone away or time to call the body squad to pick up the results.

My old place was like that pretty much all the time, only we usually didn't have calls stacked. The new one has the lowest crime rate in the province for anyplace over 10,000 people. I go two or three nights in a row without as much as a false alarm. After a year of decompressing and just trying to enjoy it, I'm starting to feel like being proactive. Putting out fires is bad policing and really does a number on morale, hope your spot does a U-Turn for no reason soon enough.
