In the end, the better than going home, whole and on time, is going home, leaving the gun and badge in the locker, and going on vacation, and learning what is to be human again, to see the glass, not for the drips of murk, but as a vessel of the blessings that bubble and flow despite your bad days and limited vision, that carry you and hold you above the morass and make all the small things possible, so you are sane and whole and can dive in to the dark waters again.
Beautifully stated.
