Today, is the official start of my vacation.

I am taking three weeks to be with my family

At Governor's Park, I arrested an excluded transient.

He had twenty-one previous exclusions.

He went to jail with another. 

 

 

MRE and RMS

 

For the next two days, I have had training for the new department report writing and record managing  system. 

The old records system was created in 1982 and built on a mainframe. 

The current report writing system is meant to work for 100 users. Anybody over 100 increases the risk of the system crashing.  The department has over 800.  

 

 

Cost

On Beggar's Bridge,  I asked an addict,

How much does meth cost?

He said, "A nickel ..... five bucks,

will get you started. "

 

 

Short

It's summer. We're short.

The shift has been hiring

three to four each night

and we are still below minimums. 

Tonight, the LT said he hires

the first slot for half a shift.

The second officer hired works

the whole night. The third OT

slot is another half shift. 

Nights and Days are hiring, too.

Everyone is thin. 

Sleeping in June

Last night, at the end if shift, a tired Keiffer

said it's too warm and too light to sleep past eight. 

 

 

Expectations

He is complaining to me

 

Where's home?

"Idaho, Coeur d'Alene."

If the streets so bad here, why don't you go home?

"I don't get along with my mom?"

Is she an addict?

"No. 

She has expectations for me.

She wants me to go to college,

make something of myself,

and I want to be a tattoo artist."

 

 

Off Third

 

A street kid off third held 
a 2'x 3' cardboard sign reading, 
"Smile if you masturbate."

Off third, in a parking lot behind the food carts,

a street kid says to me,

"Officer, can you do me a favor?"

 

What's is it?

 

He holds up his wrist.

 

"Can you get this off me?"

 

He has a handcuff on his right wrist.

 

I can, but I half to run you first.

 

"I don't want to give you

my name.  I have a warrant."

 

Well, now I have to

pay attention to you.

 

He starts to cry.

 

What's your name?

 

"Brent, Brent Bailey."

 

I run him.

He's wanted x2.
