Jargon: 

Unit-

 

1. The precinct or division where an officer works.

Examples: West, East, North, Traffic, Gangs, Detectives, etc...

 

 

Relief-

 

1. The shift an officer works at his unit.

Examples: Days, Afternoons, Nights.

 

 

Unit-

 

2. The number an officer is assugned at roll call dictating position, district, and shift.
