How do you come up with the names?
Are they random or does each one mean something?

@Tom,

Most names are plays off the officer's real name.

Grumpy is well... grumpy, but in a good way..

Beach Boy asked to be called Beach Boy

Chicago Mike is from Illinois and like the Cubs.

G. is short for Grandpa, but hates to be called that....

'Kato went to Mankato State University.

*As note, several members of department found out about this blog two summers ago after a sergeant from the shift read a post that was linked on another site.

There are 900+ members of the department. I only work with a handful each day. I write about the ones I work with and talk to on a regular basis. Since the precinct is so large and geographically isolated, the characters I mention are few.

I know some people have asked Grumpy why I don't write stories about them. His answer is you have to work with him and go calls with him.

Raindog what is your nick name.? That the shift has for you.
