With another proposed cut to next year's budget, the department is considering a hiring freeze and changing shifts. Days and Afternoons will switch to a 5-8. Nights will retain the 4-10.

God bless them for letting midnight officers keep their three-day weekends. I switched to midnights at my old department just in time to go to 5-8s and it was awful. Three days is enough time to swing around to normal-person hours and then swing back for your Monday, but with only two days off it's just not worth it, so you never get to be a human being.
