I was mis-subpoenaed for Monday.
The three trials scheduled
for Tuesday were all set over.
The trial for today was a go,
but the deputy DA asked me
to call him first.
The trial is set,
but it won't be heard today.
It may be heard Thursday or Friday,
but since judges don't
usually start trials on Friday,
it may be heard on Monday.
I know it's my duty,
but I dread the uncertainty of court.
i am always amazed in the amount of time wasting

The DDA called tonight. The trial is being re-set. I won't have to appear for at least a few weeks.
My next court appearance is a GJ on Monday and two possible trials on Tuesday.

I was glad I was not a Dad back in the court days. With the uncertain conditions that you describe, it was not uncommon to see an officer with a small son or daughter trying to entertain them with a coloring book while waiting on cases (as well as someone to relieve them of their kiddo duty).
