The Spoils of Patrol



Tonight, at dusk,
in Kal's Park,
less than ten feet away,
sip from the pool
under the spigot
in the picnic area.  

Patrol has few spoils.
The best are unexpected
and free.

I saw one dive-bomb my birdfeeders outside once... landed on the hill outside of my family room windows. I froze, and it froze... stared me down... and flew away.

Took me a few minutes to breathe properly again.
