Parade Duty

The city, is once again,

short of officers for parade duty. 

Fifteen officers short. Few volunteer. 

It's OT, but for officers on my shift

it means ending shift at 0200 hours,

returning for roll call at 0530 hours, 

being on the parade line at 0730 hours,

and relived at 1330 hours 

only to be back at work 1600.

The result is exhausted, 

cranky cops representing the city.

It's not worth the OT.

I must point out unless you have the day off. Afternoons is the only shift that can work this parade duty. If you are on Nights, you are not off work until 0800 hours. You're too late. If you work days, You start at 0700 hours. You'll be shagging calls and working a beat.....
