Shagging Calls

Swift stood up in roll call,
Tapped his ear piece,
said, "Days is chasing
a guy with a murder want."
The room emptied.
The shift drove code to the call,
created a perimeter.

As the tac team arrived,
officers were relieved,
sent out to shag calls, priorities,
one's and two's.

The rest could wait
until the big one was over
and there are enough bodies
to handle anything
other than emergencies.

I imagine if you had a murder suspect bail out of a car with a gun. Agencies across the country and into the next would come code for cover.
