If an officer dies, a sergeant will call out 10-79 and the officer's number to let the working shift know that he or she has gone home for the a final time. 10-79 is one of those codes that is both everyday utilitarian and potentially heartbreaking, just as those memorials made from piles of soldiers boots are.

Most of 10 codes are going away except the code 1,2, 3, 4, 12, 15, 98. The old timers used the odd ones and confused everyone.
Code 70.....
What? Suspicious. oh

Pup,
Your agency is going to ICS, Clear Voice transmissions.
The concept is nice, but we need radio codes for clear, quick, precise communications.
