Today was one of those long days that included all of
the flavors of life that one likes to avoid. It was like
opening a box of Berties Bott's Every Flavored Beans
and getting Snot, Vomit, and Fart in quick succession.
The day included such gems as "Anger", "Worry",
"Resignation" and then a lovely case of "Terror" that
lead to swearing and tears. This is all quite a bit
considering we managed most of it in a 5 hour car ride.
We did pull ourselves together for a nice dinner which
featured some of the loveliest gravy I've had in some time.
Still, we are whole and have arrived at our destination,
and I may have gained an aversion to ever shopping for
fabric again. (See, that's all sort of good stuff, right?)
Days like today make it hard to believe that things like
salted carmel macarons exist in the world. And that
just a few weeks ago, in a far off time I like to call
"June" we shared a really yummy one.
I like to think of things like French pastries when life
is rockier than we'd like. Another thing I like to think
about is berries.
This is another June photo that never made it past the
theoretical phase of blog writing. Look at this black
berry!
No, I mean LOOK at it! It is HUGE. And TASTY!
This particular blackberry is an Obsidian Blackberry, and
Sweet G and I turned a flat of them into three batches
of absolutely delicious jam. In hindsight, June was
a pretty damn cool month.
Today wasn't the day any of us wanted.
And this is where I'm leaving today, with thoughts of
lovely things recently past and the knowledge that
what isn't right can be put right. Oh, and that good
gravy is just a hop, skip and jump away.
