Apparently, I missed out on the magic of sibling bickering.

Having a minimum of a thirteen year age advantage
on your sibling puts a real damper on any bickering.
When they are of age to be verbally combatant, you're
at least college age, and that is just so lame.

It has only been in the last year or two that I realized
I had missed something. Sure, I'd heard other people
talk about fighting with their sisters or brothers,
but it has been watching Sweetheart G and Little e
go at each other which awoke me to my loss.

I know they love each other. I know they enjoy each
other's company. I know what wonderful things they
can do when they work together. So, when they manage
to bicker over how dental floss is put away in the cabinet,
or the way one watches the other eat, it must be
because it's fun, right? There must be some itch this
behavior scratches, some endorphin rush which I've missed in my own development.
Would I be a better person if I'd called Auntie O a
Monkey Butt or shrieked "Don't look at me when I'm
eating!" at Auntie I? Is this one of those missed childhood
things that needs to be completed in adulthood to reach
full capacity as an adult? Am I less than I could be?!
Whatever it is, I'm thankful that my girls will not have these questions when they are adults.
This is, in fact, the only solace I find in the daily
morning battles in the bathroom.
Perhaps one day I will yield to the temptation
and lock them in the bathroom with the
Thunderdome admonition of "Two girls enter, one girl leaves".
