I have been frustrated lately by all of the things that I want to do, and am just not getting to. It's that syndrome of having stuff you need to do versus things you want to do, and that the stuff that gets done is not the satisfying kind of stuff. At the end of the day you want to just say "Stuff it, stuff!"
So, this week instead of making a To Do list,
I made a Stuff That I Haven't Been Doing list.
I think sometimes I get so wrapped up in what I should be doing, that when I have a bit of time for other things, I forget what it is I'd like to be doing.
The list was actually very helpful, and yesterday instead of doing laundry, I cleaned the windows and ledges around my sewing table. Sure we're soon going to be faced with the choice of Nudity or Dirty clothes, but I figure we'll survive. I also tackled the pile of mending I've been ignoring since before Christmas. Yes, I know. I sew all the time, but putting buttons back on a shirt? Procrastination city.
You're thinking, "Mending? Washing windows? This is the stuff you want to do, but haven't?"
Actually, yes.
These are the niggling things that bug me when I sit down to sew for fun instead of profit, or when I contemplate a day of collage. And what makes them satisfying is that once they are done, they stay done for more than 48 hours (unlike the dishes, the laundry, cleaning the floors, or cooking).
