Sweetheart G has now had her final birthday event.
I made lemon filled cupcakes for this party.
They were vanilla cupcakes that I carved out a little hollow for lemon curd, and topped with vanilla-lemon frosting.
Turning 10 in our house brings lots of changes.
Sweetheart G will now be able to stay at home for very short periods of time, she will be allowed to do some cooking on the stove and in the oven, and she can play D&D.
This is considered to be a huge perk of getting older.
So for this birthday party, Sweetheart G invited three friends over for her first role playing adventure.
This was a very modified campaign. The guests played themselves, instead of rolled up characters. The adventure itself was to explore a magic school where they were being considered as students. There aren't any battles or fighting planned. It's like an interactive story where you explore an imaginary castle as a group. Big E spent months drawing maps and stocking rooms with characters and objects. I made everyone mini dice bags, and filled them with poly dice, as party favors.
The day went well. We started with pizza, followed by apples, pretzels, and ginger chex mix. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and (since they only made it through two rooms, a staircase, and a secret passageway) we have scheduled a follow up date to finish the adventure.
