Little e: "Dadda, I want to help."
Big E: "Can you draw an ogre for me?"
Little e: "Yes. One with green skin and a big nose?"
Big E: "And horns."
Little e: "What else?"
Big E: "Two black hairs on its head."
Surely Roald Dahl could have used our little e as an illustrator, right?
Bunny and Claude spent the weekend with us, and I spent most of Saturday in the kitchen puttering to my heart's delight. (Big E was out so there was no one to say "Really? Cake AND brownies?" Strangely, Bunny left me to my own devices...) I roasted a chicken for chicken broth and a cheesy chicken lasagna for our dinner, pulled together empanadas for the freezer, baked a ginger cake, brownies, and a quiche, prepped scones and pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for the next morning, and made my first loaves of real yeast driven bread ala Chrysanthemum. The bread was absolutely as advertised; frighteningly easy and de-lish toasted.
The leftover baked goods have been stashed with the empanadas in the freezer. I've been trying to hide away freezer friendly foods for those days when I find myself hip deep in projects and without a thought for dinner.
Edited to add: Okay, I have been corrected it is not an ogre, but a TROLL that little e drew. Oh I was so WRONG! My greatest apologies to the artist.
