The Harvest Dinner was lovely. Only one dish had meat in it, and most of the food was vegetarian. I made a roasted root vegetable baklava (read roasted veg in filo with some nuts) which was okay, but really needed some sharp feta thrown in it. I also brought two pumpkin cheesecakes, but since 10 people cancelled at the last minute due to illness we ended up only needing one. Big E worked, but was able to stop by for some pasta and the dessert course. Two slices of cinnamon chocolate cream pie (November Gourmet) and a piece of pumpkin cheesecake carried him through the rest of his shift.
It has come to my attention, now that the happy glow of comfort food has passed, that Monday is the first of December. This just seems ridiculous. Really. In a fit of "Hey I'm on top of it damn it!" the girls and I put up the first of the Christmas decorations yesterday afternoon. I still need to put the finishing touches on the girl's advent garland, but most of it is ready to go. I won't run into trouble until about the 18th of December I think. (Surely I can get my act together by then.. right?) Ya, December I've got your number...
The Ducks won their civil war game (yes.. I'm mentioning college football. Tune it out if you need to.), and I am left wondering... why isn't the celebrating proportional to the fugue when we loose? "Hey, we won." VS a week of muttering and words fit only for an R rating. Go figure.
