I tend to write a lot more about little e's deeds than Sweetheart G's. This is because Sweet G censors me. "Mom, don't write about Thaa-at!" or "Mom, did you put THAT in your blog?!" But, Sweet G has given me permission to share this piece she wrote in her 2nd grade reading group. So in words all her own:
"I found a dragon egg. It is a sparkly rainbow color. It's smooth as glass. It glows as it absorbs rays of run. It smells like chocolate-dipped-strawberries when it is happy. It hums quite silently. It is as big as a watermelon. What is that cracking noise?
My baby dragon hatched! It is as smooth as obsidian. It's tail is two feet long. And its body is two feet long! It bites me with its gums. Its favorite foods are: hardboiled eggs, applesauce, bread, pudding, milk, strawberries, blueberries, and rice. Milk seems to make it grow faster. There are rainbow patches all over it. One of its favorite things to do is to camouflage into my pants. I wonder what it will be like when it grows up.
My dragon finally grew up! It takes a half of a year for it to grow up. If I don't feed it milk it takes a year. Now it eats: bread, berries, rice, milk, teriyaki chicken, fruit juice, dumplings, sushi, and pasta. It's so big I can ride it! The dragon will need some training! Once it did a loop-de-loop! There are two horns behind a hard, boney frill. What is that rock?"
