Sweetheart G has begun a birthday countdown for me. This morning I was greeted with "9 more days until your birthday!" This is a daily jolt of "Ah, I have things to do!" Today I let go of the idea of making cool collaged birthday party invites...
But, the blue/purple fan quilt is underway! I have begun to sew together the 90 something pieced blocks I will need for the queen sized project. The pleasure of matching all those wedges in new combinations is sweet... as long as I don't consider the length of the path in front of me.
And, in keeping with my general theme of undertaking several projects at once, I am starting to work on an art project for Sweetheart G's class. This will be the "child art" portion of her classes contribution to the annual PTA auction. My goal is for a wall hanging sized, quilted, garden scene done in bright cottons with some embellishments. (These quilts have a tendency to grown as I work on them. Lap quilts become twin sized in the blink of an eye!) I will share my prototype when I finish it.
This is the quilt we made last year as our class project. The students chose decorated their hands, chose their background fabric and their border fabrics and then I assembled the quilt.
