When Sweetheart g and I were in Victoria, I splurged and bought myself a sketch pad and a box of colored pencils. I kept seeing these articles in Cloth Paper Scissors about keeping a sketch book, and I felt inspired. Inspired to attempt, if not succeed.. I have never been good at drawing from life. The best thing that can be said about my illustrating ability is that I can trace well, sometimes. But hey, I have never been one not to do something, just because I didn't do it well... as anyone who has heard me sing can attest.
Once in the store I was seduced by these pencils.. Inktense. They are like watercolor pencils, but when wet they turn bright instead of dull and bland. They were so cool! So I bought them. (Honestly, I was ready to buy anything that might make my doodles interesting.)
I have done a bit of sketching in my book, although nothing I feel the need to share. I did buy a book with heavy paper, so I could sew directly into the book. (That hasn't happened yet.) Last night I made this nifty organizer so I would use my sketchbook more. I am pretty sure there is a direct corollary between having a pretty holder for your book and having the book be interesting. (If there isn't, don't tell me.) As part of this validating process, I did make a Sketch in my Sketchbook of the organizer, before I made it. It was even useful.
