Was Annie Oakley a mermaid? Who knows? She wouldn't tell us.
G and I found an unexpected amount of enjoyment in the buskers which populated the harbor area in downtown Victoria. Our two favorites were a mermaid who played the accordian (and flirted) when primed with coin, and a bronzed Annie Oakley statue who primped and pulled out a pistol. I suspect they were really the same woman, as they only appeared on alternate days. She displayed an amazing amount of stamina and good humor as she held herself rigid.
We also discovered a stall that made fresh mini-donuts which were sold by the bag full. They were light, crisp on the edges, and not too sweet. Fabulous!
