On Tuesday, Sweetheart G, Naynay (aka my youngest sister, G's youngest Aunt) and I set off on the mighty rails of Amtrak for Seattle. A cab ride and a ferry trip later, and "Ta-da" its another country! G never really believed me that we were in another country. The pretty, colorful money was fun, but I think she kept waiting for the magical shift that says "New World Here!". Apparently customs wasn't dramatic enough. Although, travelling with two seven year olds and trying to explain that one of them is your daughter and the other is your sister is always good for a puzzled look.
With Naynay's Grandma as our host we filled our first full day in Victoria with a walk in the park, the Bug Museum (The girls held lots of things. I held a tarantula. It was soft, fuzzy, and cuddly.. honestly!), the harbour ferry, and fish and chips for dinner. Then, back to Grandma B's for bed.
Last year we did this same trip, but I didn't leave time or money enough for G and I to explore on our own. This year... while Naynay had adventures with her grandma, G and I had our own two days to follow our whim. (G would tell you my whim involves lots of walking.. )
