I've been printing out images to use in some more collages. I thought I might use some photos of a 1898 autograph book I bought many, many years ago. (I was still in high school and the woman at the antique shop was really snitty to me. It is funny the things you remember.)
The woman who owned the book, Miss Pearl Marigold (what a fabulous name!), was a student at the Ferris Industrial School. And now I have become completely distracted by the history of what is now Ferris State University. Yep, the internet is a dangerous, distracting ball of shiny stuff. The founder of the school, Woodbridge Ferris (who went on to serve as governor of Michigan and as a Senator!) even signed Miss Marigold's book! Wow! What a fun way to waste an evening!
(W. N. Ferris's inscription is the bottom most one.)
