Tonight, on Afternoons, a lottery determined who would work the Occupy detail. Officers with three years on or less placed their name in a hat three times. Officers with less than ten placed their names in twice. Officer with more than ten years put their name in once.
I started the shift an hour early, missing roll call and the lottery.

our shift lottery involved the east district call. a call that will eat at least 2 hours, just in drive time. every one draws from the hat, one with piece on paper says "winner". the sgt, who never shys away, draws.
