At roll call, a sergeant asked us to look for a mope,
a person of interest in a smashing spree.
"There's no probable cause at this time."
Another sergeant chimed in.
"That guy is one of the top thieves
of all time in the precinct.
His name is probable cause."
Roll calls were always entertaining--I mean when the sgts. were running the show and the lt. was hiding in his office.

West is a fish bowl. The commander and captain make roll call. The Lt. is usually present as well a few detectives, street crimes, and special investigators. The room is packed. Even the Chief stops by just to hang out from time to time.
At south, usually, it was the shift and a Sgt. Roll calls was more informal and humorous.
